Johnny Daukes
Johnny left school and immediately became an editor's assistant. His passage from trainee to editor marked by one 48 hour session cutting the pop video 'Godstar' for Throbbing Gristle and their charismatic cross gender frontman Genesis P Orridge.
Johnny subsequently immersed himself in the art of 'condensing the story', the fundamental talent required of any great commercials director and edited countless award winning documentaries, title sequences and music videos. He has recently directed, edited and produced several comedy series for both BBCTV and Radio 4.
"A great comedy sketch and a great comedy commercial rely on exactly the same ingredients; script, cast and execution. What's vital is that they're assembled with exactly the right timing....that's the difference between a belly laugh and a cringe from the viewer."
In 2006 Johnny delivered a six part comedy series for the BBC - ‘The Message’ - described as “…an excuse to highlight and tear to pieces all that is crass, witless and indeed soulless about modern television.”
