Peter Webber continues in his role as Artistic Director for National Day in Qatar throughout 2010. In the role last year Peter commissioned and oversaw the development and execution of a number of Documentary and short films that were shown during Qatar National Day celebrations on 18th December 2009, and on the stand alone National Day TV Channel Al Doha.
Peter directed an epic historical short film ‘Jasim’ about the founding father of Qatar earlier this year, and has continued the hard work throughout 2009. Among the highlights will be projects on culture, desert survival and wildlife. He also helmed a stunning journey into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, taking 3 Qatari’s to live with a recently discovered indigenous community.

Peter Webber began 2009 delivering two fantastic commercials for Peugeot out of Euro RSCG London. Peter worked alongside Gerry Moira and Clare Donald on this project.
Peter is best known for his debut film ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’. The film won numerous awards at film festivals all over the world and also scored nominations at the Academy Awards (in three categories), the Golden Globes (two categories) and BAFTA (10 categories, including the Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a Director in their first feature film).
Having finished his second feature, Hannibal Rising, in 2007, Peter is now focusing on commercials. He brings with him a wealth of experience from his exciting and varied career. Having joined Serious in September 2007, Peter has taken flight in commercials.
First up was a wonderful film for Fire Safety out of Euro RSCG London for Mark Hunter, Dave Prater, Imran Patel & Mana Catford. Peter then completed a spot for the International Red Cross for Shaun McIlrath and Peter Mugglestone out of Hurrel & Dawson. Peter then Directed a set of commercials for the National Blood Service out of the COI/ DLKW for Richard J Warren, Paul Hancock and Simon Devine.
Alongside features Peter has directed a number of documentaries including 1994’s award-winning ‘An A-Z of Wagner’ and a number of films for the Channel 4 science programme Equinox. He is also highly revered in the world of TV drama, having directed dramas for the BBC and Channel 4 including the critically acclaimed ‘Men Only’, and an episode of HBO’s hugely popular ‘Six Feet Under’.
