Stephen Atkinson

Director / Cameraman

Born in Durham, Stephen studied Visual Communications at Leeds University graduating with a 1st Class hons. Postgraduate studies followed at the National Film & Television School where he specialised in cinematography under the tutelage of cinematographers Billy Williams and Ossie Morris.   After graduating Stephen embarked on a career as a freelance DOP working for many production companies in the UK, Europe and North America photographing commercials, documentaries and drama.

He has had featured articles in Creative Review and Broadcast, and has won D&AD awards for his work on Audi, The British Dyslexia Association, and the Big Issue. Additional awards for documentary direction and cinematography have been gained at the Edinburgh Television Festival and Kinsale.

In recent years Stephen has combined his knowledge as a DOP with his experience as a Director to complete work for Samsung, Hero Foods, Thornton’s and Nestle.
