Tom Merilion

Born in Birmingham, Tom studied film and photography at Newcastle polytechnic and graduated with a BA honours in Media Production in 1989. In his final year he was commissioned by the BBC to make a documentary as part of their 10 x 10 series. 'Ritual', a documentary about a group of Sunday morning regulars at a Victorian Swimming Baths was broadcast and got pick of the week in Time Out and the Radio Times. Tom went on to direct over forty music videos for artists such as Tanita Tikaram and Rod Stewart. Tom made the transition into commercials in 1998. Since then he has made a number of high profile commercials for clients including; Coca Cola, Norwich Union, Sainsburys, Vodafone, Smirnioff, BT and Phones 4u.

Tom has spent the last year working on a photographic project that he has been shooting in the UK and Ireland. He has had two previous photographic exhibitions in London, Birmingham and Belfast. He has had work published in the Guardian and The Independent on Sunday and his portrait work has been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery.
